A rooftop during a blackout. SPENSER is sitting on a box looking out over the audience and an occasional explosion in the distance. There are sounds of planes overhead. SPENSER winches everytime he hears an explosion.

SPENSER

There go O'Malley's. It's a shame. How much longa are we going haft ta go through this shit. When someone gonna put an end to tha Jeb Bush. Going to war with Northh Korea was a brilliant idea, so was warring with Iraq. Death told over ten thousand in twelve years. And now we get bombed by North Korea. Oh no, no one could ever bomb the US, what the fuck, it's been going on six months now. Fuck, looks like that was my high school. I'll never fuck another chick on that swing set. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna join Viva la Resistance. Someone gotta stop that Bush. What did Iraq or North Korea ever do to us before we invaded them? Now it's prutty much World War Three.

(A door Upper Stage Right opens. ALEX enters. He is full of energy and life. Everytime a bomb drops he seems to get more excited.)

Man ain't this the most exciting time of your life, or mine, or any else living in

Boston. Well, since the Red Sox won the World Series. I was out there dodging the bombs. Fuck that was exciting. One hit not more than a thousand feet in front of me. Piece of road, bout the size of a VW come flying towards me. Thought it was the end. I just stood there watching it fly to kill me. I said, 'If this is my death I'm staring it down.' Fucking bastard landed two feet in front of me. Didn't have the guts to kill me. All my life nothin have the guts to kill me. How many times I almost get killed Spens?

SPENSER

ALEX

More times than the neighborhood slut gets paid in a day, and who knows how many that is? Jesus Mary and Joseph , those slit eyes just bombed the bridge. Have they any decency. SPENSER

SPENSER

Hey Alex we really shouldn't be here anyway. It is a blackout. They tell us to stay indoors for a reason. Look, there're fucking planes bombing Boston as we speak, and we're on top of a goddamn rooftop. If even one came our way we be toast. We should just go. You know FOX News will have coverage of it later.

ALEX

Those bombs don't have the guts to kill me. They woulda done it by now. If you're so scared just run on home to your blanket and teddybear. Why you'd even come if you didn't wanna?

SPENSER

SPENSER

ALEX

SPENSER

SPENSER

What the fuck was I talking bout before you distracted me? Oh yea, I was at home right when the blackout started, turned off all my lights and was watching all the other lights go out on my street, and I said to myself 'Fuck if I'm gonna be sitting here in the dark for God knows how long I'm gonna go in the bathroom and look at my old porn mags.' So I go in there and turn on the light. I figure it wouldn't be a big deal, it's in the middle of my apartment, ain't no light gonna seep out. But I can't. I can't turn on the light. I go to my bedroom to turn on my closet light and notice my alarm clock is turned off too.

That's when I realize the fucking power company turned off all the power to the city. They didn't trust us enough to turn off our own goddamn lights, they did it for us. Like there's a single person out there that would leave their lights on so the NoKo's could bomb their house. That just pissed me off. So I knocked on your door and told you to meet me up here on this roof, so we could watch the city get bombed. And where the fuck are the fighter planes they said would be here shooting down all the bombers?

SPENSER

I don't think they were ever gonna come. I think they just told us that to make us feel safe.

ALEX

Now why would they do that?

SPENSER

Cuz Jeb Bush wanted Boston to be bombed.

ALEX

He wouldn't do that. He's the President, by definition he loves this country more than anyone.

SPENSER

ALEX

But that was different.

SPENSER

ALEX

Cuz he needed a reason to go to Iraq and take out Saddam for putting that contract out of his daddy's life.

SPENSER

Saddam Hussein never put a contract out of George Bush Sr.'s life. We went there for oil.

ALEX

No sirrie Bobbersmith. I saw it in Newsweek. Saw the contract and everything.

Oh look they bombed a firework wharehouse. Now that is cool.

SPENSER

Newsweek huh. That's the bastion of truth. How long have we had these blackouts? Six months, and not once have we been bombed. How long has NoKo had a base able to bomb us? Three four months, and now we are getting bombed. And Boston of all places. Why Boston? We don't have a major military base here. We aren't the hub of our economy. We don't have our government here. So why Boston? It's because of the Tea Party. The Revolution started here and Jeb wants the New Revolution to start here, only this time it's in align with the government not against it.

ALEX

The hell you say. That makes no fucking sense. You been watching to many conspiracy movies. Why the fuck...Oh Jesus, that one's headed for Fenway.

(pause)

They just took out Fenway Park. The Soxs have been playin there for..ever. Oh now I'm pissed. Now I'm fucking irate. Of all the national landmarks. Fenway Fucking Park. SPENSER

ALEX

Spens you said you'd follow me anywhere. Follow me to the Army tomorrow. I don't want to go by myself. Ain't nothing got the guts to kill me cuz it knows it would hafta to deal with you. SPENSER

I don't know if I can do that Alex. The whole time you been talking about the country and how much you love it, I'd been thinking about how much I can't right now. You separate the government from the country. I can't. They're one and the same to me. We've been under a dictatorship since the 80's, cept Clinton. A dictatorship of Bushes. Someone's gotta stop them. It's 2014. America hasn't been free in a very long time Alex. I've never known what it's been like not to be a war. Sure when we were five or six we weren't at war, but that doesn't count. We were to young for that to matter anyway. Don't you wanna know what it's like to travel to another country and have them not hate you simply because your American. Don't you want an election and not know months ahead whose gonna win? ALEX

SPENSER
